Mossy Trail Ceramics

hand drawn and stamped small batch pottery

Mossy Trail Ceramics is the work of Becca Steiger, who lives and makes art in Freeland, Maryland. Becca earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fibers from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. Her background in textiles and painting continues to influence her ceramic work through pattern, touch, and color. Each piece she creates is built by hand, carrying the marks of the process. She takes inspiration from prayer, scripture and nature.

Artist Statement

I make functional pottery that blends my love of sketching and building with clay. Each piece is hand built, tactile, and a little bit quirky — meant to be held, used, and enjoyed every day. I carve stamps from bits of scrap clay to create repeating patterns that add texture and rhythm to the surface. I’m always exploring new shapes and designs, refining my craft as I go. My hope is that my work reminds people of the simple beauty of creation and the joy found in the handmade.
